How it works

The business days calculator counts only the weekdays between a start and an end date. It walks the date range one day at a time and skips Saturdays and Sundays, so a two-week span returns 10 working days rather than 14 calendar days. This is the number most people mean by "how many working days until the deadline".

An optional "skip public holidays" setting removes a built-in list of common public holidays for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Because holiday calendars change each year, that list is dated and meant as a helpful estimate; for official payroll or contract purposes always check the authoritative holiday calendar for your region.

A useful habit is to count business days for any deadline measured in working time, not calendar time. A contract that says "10 business days" means two calendar weeks minus the weekends, and the calculator gives you the exact end date so you do not have to count on your fingers. It also helps when a deadline falls across a month or year boundary, where a simple "two weeks" guess can drift by a day or two.

Examples

Example: Monday 4 Aug 2026 to Friday 15 Aug 2026

That spans two calendar weeks but only 10 business days, because the two weekends of 8–9 and 15–16 August are excluded. The calculator returns exactly the weekdays, Monday to Friday.

Example: 10 business days from a Monday

Starting Monday 4 August 2026 and counting 10 business days lands on Friday 15 August 2026, since the weekends fall outside the counted span. This is the pattern behind most "10 business day" deadlines.

Example: with a public holiday inside the range

If a national holiday falls on a weekday inside the range and "skip public holidays" is on, that day is removed too, giving one fewer business day than the weekend-only count.
